On Friday, November 28, 2025, Leighton Perry Harris, born February 10th 1967, left us unexpectedly to be with the Lord and join his parents, Donald L. and Noreen Anna (Waye) Harris, and his sister Donnetta Harris.

Leighton was born in Newcastle, NB, and lived his entire life in Trout Brook, NB, from where he attended school in Sunny Corner, NB, and later worked at the pulp mill in Nelson, NB. He was an excellent caregiver for members of his family and others. He loved sports, in particular, his beloved Detroit Red Wings. What Leighton loved most was his family, being his brother: Bradley Harris (Judy) of Fredericton, NB; his nephews: Donnie Harris (Jenna) of Fredericton, NB, Bradley Harris of Toronto, NB; niece: Victoria Harris (Logan) of Fredericton, NB; great nephew: Chase; aunts and uncles: Joyce (Wilbert), Sterling, Hollie (Loreen), Marven (Agnes); as well as his chosen family: Rita Richards-Smullin.

For the last six months, Leighton was hospitalized at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, where he received exceptional care from Dr. Gerard Losier, Dr. Coleman Black, Dr. Moses Rambaran, the nursing staff and the kitchen staff. His cousins, Brenda Jardine, Leslie Walsh, Heather Hachey and Jason Harris, helped immensely in ensuring his time in the hospital was as pleasant as possible.
